You need to be registered to be able to buy Automatic weapons. Can't buy them at Walmart like shot guns or bolt action rifles.
They are available at every bigger gun store.

The HK USP Cal. 9mm exists in the German army under the name P8

You can get the P8 or P10 here too. The USP models are available in 9mm, cal. 40-S&W and cal.45-ACP.
I like my 45-ACP...just gets a little pricey when you go to the range. I use the Glock 17 for target practice since the ammo is not as expensive. I am more a collector of guns and rifles anyways.

Is it possible to get a license in Germany? People go deer hunting, so I guess it is possible to own a rifle right?

I just shot the MG3 but it wasn't that thrilling. Some Pump Action would be more interesting...we dont have anything like that in the german army

german laws about arms are a little stricter than in the states... in order to get a gun, you have to
a) get a hunting licence (long theoretical and practical training, costly, as you have to buy a share of hunting-rights to prove that you need a gun) and you are allowed to own as many rifles as you like (only bolt-action or semi-auto with a mag of 5 rounds) but only 2-3 handguns...
or
b) join a "Gun Club", do 1 1/2 Years of shooting and training, message of good conduct and a final test done by the government to get a licence ("Waffenschein"). Similar to the hunting licence that includes the "waffenschein" you are also allowed to have an unlimited number of rifles but only 2 handguns...

well, if you made it till there, theres still one obstacle, the storage of the weapons... here its unlawfull to have the .45 under your pillow, you need to have a safe for the gun and one for the ammunition...
