Failed to move 'Battlefield 2/mods/fh2' back to...
Hi guys,
I just managed to fix my shader issue, and am still stuck with the old error message:
"Failed to move 'Battlefield 2/mods/fh2' back to 'Battlefield 2/mods/fh2'" accompanied by the Japanese equivalent of "impossible to create a file that already exists".
Now I tried reading the forums, but for every question there are 35 silly replies (like reinstall everything) and it's hard to find the proper solution.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks for your time!

I got an emergency package for these cases. Uploaded it for you on my website
Unzip this "mods" folder and just copy the whole folder into your BF2 Folder. Replace all files and you should be all fine then. Also solves all kinds of shader problems, so you might keep it on your disk for later use

Thank you Corvie for the quick reply.
I have two questions though:
1. I have solved my shaders issue, so are you sure these are the correct files to replace?
2. There are many other files and folders in my mod/bf2 folder. So you mean I should add/replace the files in your zip folder?
Thank you!

I think what you need to do is goto MyDocuments/Battlefield2/mods/if you see a file called BF2 temp here, delete it
in the MyDocuments/BF2/mod folder you should see 2 folders only BF2 and FH2
I'm pretty sure that the game will still launch after you see that error message and sometimes it clears itself after you have launched and closed the game again.
as for corvies fix

Re: Failed to move 'Battlefield 2/mods/fh2' back to...
ok..... totally disregard that last post of mine
I have got it slightly wrong and as I was trying to amend the post when the Modify timer ran out
anyway...... like I said go to MyDesktop/MyDocuments/BF2/*Mods*
in there you should see 2 folders BF2 and FH2, if you see a folder named BF2.tmp instead, just rename that one back to FH2.
That should fix the error message you are getting
let me know........

Hello Moose,
and thank you for weighing in on the subject.
I'm not sure what you mean by "MyDesktop/MyDocuments/BF2/*Mods*"...
My directory is X:/BF2/Mods/
inside that I have 3 folders:
- bf2
- fh2
- xpack (whatever that is...)
Inside bf2 and fh2 are the shader .zip files I had to fix to solve my shader problem. I'm still stuck with the rest. Sorry if I sound moronic here...

Re: Failed to move 'Battlefield 2/mods/fh2' back to...
ok sorry mate I should have been more specific......
These files are in a different location to the Main Game Directory... it is where all your installed games user profiles, server settings and save games etc are kept. Normally the path is MyDesktop/MyDocuments.... It could also be called MyGames. You should just be able to click on the windows start button and the MyDocuments folder is visible there.
Once you found this folder find the Battlefield2 folder.... open it and inside you will see these folders dmp LogoCache mods Profiles Screenshoots click on the mods folder and this is where you should see a BF2 and a FH2 folder (non bugged) but most likely you will see BF2 and BF2.tmp
If you do see a folder called BF2.tmp then rename this to FH2
make sure the game is not running when you do this...

Ok, I found it...
But i have one last question.
There are 3 folders in mods:
-bf2
-bf2.tmp
-fh2
You said to rename the bf2.tmp to fh2, but fh2 already exists.
So should I just erase it?
Thank you, this should be it!

Re: Failed to move 'Battlefield 2/mods/fh2' back to...
just delete the BF2.tmp
last time mine corrupted the FH2 folder was missing completly
anyway just delete that one and it will get rid of that msg
